New Jersey has been hot, humid, and sticky, not counting the brief break at the end of this week. Depending on where you live, you’re probably in the same boat. Nature has always been one source of inspiration for my interior design, but at times like this it can also be a way to cool down vicariously through lucky, talented photographers. Here are some stunning images to help you beat the heat (mentally at least):

If an Arctic vacation isn’t in your plans, cool off with a frozen cocktail popsicle. From margarita pops to appletini pops, there is definitely a flavor out there to please your palette. Whip up a batch of tequila sunrise ice pops with this recipe from Better Homes and Gardens.

Another favorite summer drink that my whole family likes is “European style” ice coffee. Brew coffee (decaf works equally well), let it cool, add 1 or 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream (no ice!), top with some whipped cream (the real stuff please! At this point you might as well stop counting calories anyway…), chocolate shavings, and voila! Sooo yummy and refreshing!
What are you doing to combat the heat this summer?

Thanks for reading! Nature photography is always gorgeous. I can’t believe the photographer was able to capture that angle of the waves.

Stunning photographs! And those margarita ice pops look great — I’m coming over for some, Iris! You are doing great writing so many blogs!

Thanks for reading. My brother in sister-in-law have been in Australia for the last three years, but they’re currently packing up and moving to Europe. Can’t wait to get rid of the heat wave, but not so sure I’m ready for winter! As a side note I love the antiques place you featured on your blog! If I could I would “run, walk, ride, or hitch-hike” my way there. The vintage suitcases are amazing and the idea of using them as shelves is genius.

Thanks for reading! I love the girl in the water too. It was part of the photographer’s Alice in Wonderland themed shoot.
